Before your visit
So that the examination runs smoothly and without unnecessary waiting, please prepare as described below. If anything is unclear, write to us — we will be glad to help.
Who we see
We are a paediatric cardiology clinic.
We see children and adolescents who have not yet reached their 19th birthday on the day of the examination (the latest possible appointment is the day before the 19th birthday).
Patients under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or other legal guardian.
What to bring
First visit
-
a referral form (in Slovak: výmenný lístok), paper or electronic,
-
a copy of the medical report from the specialist who recommended the examination. The referral form and the report stay at our clinic.
Follow-up visit
-
If the follow-up was scheduled by our clinic, you do not need a referral form or a medical report.
-
If the follow-up was recommended by your paediatrician or another specialist, please bring a referral form and a copy of the medical report on which the recommendation was based.
If the patient does not attend a follow-up scheduled by us within 12 months of the booking date, a new referral form is required.
If the patient comes for a follow-up earlier than we recommended, please bring a referral form describing the symptoms and the reason for the earlier visit.
How to prepare your child
-
Your child does not need to fast — they may eat and drink as usual.
-
Children under 3 are best brought rested and fed.
-
Give any regular medication as usual, unless your doctor has told you otherwise.
-
Choose clothing that is easy to remove to the waist, or that opens at the front. Both the ECG and the echocardiogram are performed on a bare chest.
-
It helps younger children if you explain calmly at home what will happen: the examination is completely painless, your child lies on a couch and the doctor places a probe with gel on their chest. The gel is slightly cool — that is all the child feels.
-
A favourite toy or book makes waiting easier.
-
For toddlers you are welcome to bring your own changing mat.
Referral from a doctor without a contract with your insurer
Our clinic holds contracts with all health insurance companies. Some doctors, however, may not have a contract with your insurer — a sports medicine physician, for example. If such a doctor recommends a cardiac examination, your insurer will not cover it. The examination is then paid for by the patient (or their legal guardian) according to the clinic's current price list.
If you cannot attend
If you cannot keep your appointment, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance on +421 2 6428 2456 or by email at sestricka@mladesrdce.com. We can then offer the slot to another child who is waiting.
